3 days/2 nights
As mentioned by Diodorus, Pliny the Elder, Ptolemy, Tacitus and Suetonius, Vectis and its environs featured strongly in the Claudian Invasion.
Eventually subdued by the Second Legion Augusta under Vespasian, the area became an important agricultural and import/export centre and offers a wealth of evidence for the Romanisation of southern Britannica.
Visits must be pre-booked but all Roman venues can include bespoke guided tours, colour presentations, workshops on costume, spinning, mosaics, tabula and stylus use, geography and biology.
Artefact handling sessions are also available.
